Social Service Procedures
This document describes the procedures for medical social workers with regard to dispensary patients. Patients are divided into 6 service needs: 1. unmarried mothers, 2. patients who need relief and referrals, 3. inadequate home conditions, 4. patients of families with insufficient income needing clothing and medication, 5. domestic difficulties, 6. child placement and housekeeping services. The procedure for working with each group is described. This document offers a definition of medical social work and several references, emphasizes a non-judgmental attitude, and highlights the role of the social worker in maternity care.
